The paper analyzes a unique document, discovered relatively recently, regarding the activity of the first laboratory for research and analysis of construction materials of the National School of Bridges and Roads in Bucharest, from the period of the founder of this institution, Alfons Oscar Saligny (1853–1903), brother of the great engineer Anghel Saligny. Research into the subject, structure and content of the document, as well as comparative analysis with documents of similar importance from the contemporary period, have highlighted relevant information from a historical and technical point of view. It also presents an example of a high level of professionalism, conscientiousness and technical meticulousness offered by its drafter, the great engineer and scientist, Alfons Oscar Saligny.
