Ștefan Hepites was one of the most remarkable personalities that Romanian Science has ever witnessed, a multidisciplinary scientist with broad interests in physics, meteorology, climatology, metrology, astronomy, seismology and geomagnetism. He was also a renowned engineer and a professor for generations of students. Presenting his prolific career is a daunting task. Taking this into account, this article emphasizes his major contributions to seismology and geomagnetism, fields also related to the author’s professional experience.
